The new year often requires some changes and updates to your ClearPoint account. Adding new reporting periods, reporting frequencies, and elements are common changes. The rollover process also provides a great opportunity to clean up your account and ensure your organization is set up for success in the year ahead! Below we’ve included our rollover to-do list, with helpful resources and articles to help you get the job done.

Preserving Historical Information
Congratulations! You just completed a full year of tracking your organization’s strategy and performance. There were likely many successes and goals achieved, as well as areas identified that you may need to work on going forward. But no matter what, it’s important that all that hard work isn’t forgotten and that you can reference it if necessary. Luckily, there are several ways to preserve your historical information in ClearPoint.
- Duplicate your historical scorecards
- Lock those historical scorecards
- Create and generate briefing books
- Create HTML report templates
- Create and access snapshots
- Snapshots allow you to preserve a copy of your entire account as a view-only archive, which can be helpful if you are planning on making widespread changes to your account!
Reporting Periods and Frequencies
Once your account has been cleaned up, setting up your reporting periods and frequencies for the new year is crucial as you continue inputting and reporting on data in the system. No need to stress though, the whole process takes less than 5 minutes and can be done by following the instructions below:
- Add reporting periods
- To speed this up, we suggest adding your new reporting periods in bulk. You can even copy and paste them in from the table provided in the article. Super easy!

If the content of your strategic plan is changing at all during this time, it’s a good idea to review the structure of your account as well! For example, it may make sense to adjust the fields included on the detail pages of your strategic elements, create any new custom fields or remove those that will no longer be used, and set a new default layout to maintain uniformity for any new elements added during the year.

An account is nothing without its users. They are responsible for inputting, analyzing, tracking, and reporting on your organization’s strategic information in ClearPoint. At the beginning of the new year, take some time to review user activity and make sure you are getting the most out of your user licenses!
